The Project was founded in 1998 by James Lecesne, Peggy Rajski, and Randy Stone. James Lecesne is an award-winning actor who wrote the screenplay for “Trevor,” a short film about a gay thirteen-year-old boy who attempts suicide because he is being bullied at school. The film won numerous awards and was turned into a successful TV drama series called “Trevor.”

In 2002, The Trevor Project became a non-profit organization with the mission of saving LGBTQ youth from suicide by providing life-saving and life-affirming resources including our nationwide, 24/7 crisis intervention lifeline, digital community and advocacy/educational programs that create a safe, supportive and positive environment for young LGBTQ people.

The Q Card Project is a project that was launched in 2013, with the mission to help LGBTQ+ youth take charge of their health and talk to their providers about their identities.
